Settings
On the prediction page, the gear-icon settings button (or
pressing
s) shows a pop-up dialog that controls some
settings:
Speed controls how fast imagery is played when
animating; higher is faster.
Scale Speed controls whether to scale the
animation
Speed by the current image's interval (time span).
When checked, the speed will be scaled down by the number of hours
the current image spans (for images that span more than an hour).
With this enabled, the animation plays at a constant
forecast time rate, even when imagery intervals change
within the current displayed range. E.g. when the interval changes
from 3 to 6 hours per frame, the animation will slow down by half.
With this button unchecked, imagery always plays at a constant
image frame rate instead.
End delay controls how long to pause at the end of the
animation loop. This is a separate delay to emphasize that the loop
is about to restart. Higher indicates a longer delay.
Mode controls how the animation plays the imagery:
-
Loop plays from beginning to end.
-
Rocker plays from beginning to end, then back to the
beginning (in reverse).
-
Event rocker is like Rocker, but starts and
stops at event time, and rocks each side (after then before)
of event time. If no event time is defined, it falls back
to Rocker mode.
-
Flip just flips between the first and last images.
Use UTC shows times in UTC; when unchecked, the local
(browser) timezone is used. Note that using local times can lead to
more confusing or verbose tick labels on the imagery slider, as the
local time offset may not be an even multiple of the imagery
interval. (This setting does not affect the two image timestamps
below the imagery slider; they always show both UTC and local time.)
Note that proper functioning of this site depends on your local
device having the correct date and time set.
Weekdays shows weekdays in the imagery slider tick
labels when days are shown; when unchecked, months are shown. The
day of month is shown next to both.
Scale map scales the weather map appropriately to where
it is placed. On wide displays (e.g. desktop PCs), the map is
placed to the right of the GUI controls -- so it will be scaled to
fill the viewport vertically, enlarging it without inducing
scrolling. On narrow displays (e.g. mobile), the map is placed
beneath the controls -- so it will be scaled to be as wide as the
controls, to avoid wasted space and tiny buttons. When unchecked,
the map is shown at native scale, which varies by provider..
Auto refresh automatically refreshes imagery, as well as
updating model runs. This is the default, thus it is generally not
necessary to manually refresh the page to keep imagery up-to-date.
