Events Page Prediction Page

Event Page

An event page lists all predictions (typically one or two) for a given event. It is accessed by choosing an event on the Events page and clicking its object name link. Predictions are sorted ascending by geocentric midtime, then prediction id. This order may differ from e.g. OccultWatcher Cloud, and/or predictions from that source or elsewhere may be missing (if they have not been explicitly added). Recently-past predictions are shown with gray text; those older than 3 days have been removed.

Highlighted prediction

As with events on the Events page, the selected prediction is highlighted with a darker background for its row, and a global map is shown to the right (or below). The terminator is shown at event midtime, with the event path (if known) plotted. The globe is shown from the point of view of the occulted star (if known); thus areas closer to the edge of the globe will see the event at a lower altitude.

Data fields

At the top, data roughly common to all the event's predictions is shown (from the first prediction): geocentric midtime, object name and number, star id, star magnitude (V band), combined magnitude of object and star before the event, magnitude drop, and max duration. These data are typically from the Occult XML (from the source site, e.g. OccultWatcher Cloud) for the prediction. On small browsers (mobile), the first three fields may be missing to save room; these are still listed in the title at top however.

Below this, for each prediction, the prediction id, date the prediction was last updated, orbit date, 1-sigma error in path widths, and cross-path (distance) and along-path (time) differences from the first prediction are listed, if known. The prediction id is a unique identifier for this site, and may differ from the prediction id used on the source site, as there are multiple sources of predictions (OccultWatcher Cloud, Lucky Star, manual upload, etc.). Path differences are estimates by this site, and may differ from other sites' due to differing methodology. All other fields, if set, are from the Occult XML for the prediction, from the source site (e.g. OccultWatcher Cloud). On narrow/mobile displays some columns may collapse to "..." to save space.

Navigating

Clicking/touching a table row, or navigating rows with the up/down arrow or Home/End keys, highlights that prediction. Clicking the prediction id link goes to its prediction page (the weather map).
