Events Page
The
Events page lists known events.
Future events (including those up to about 12 hours ago) are shown
by default (i.e. if the Future Events tab is highlighted). Older
events are shown by clicking the Past Events tab link. Events older
than about 3 days are removed.
Note that only events that have been explicitly added are
shown; e.g. the vast majority of OccultWatcher Cloud predictions
will not be listed. Contact Kai Getrost (on the IOTA or OWCloud
email lists) to have an event added. The ability for users to
directly add events from OccultWatcher Cloud is planned for a future
release.
Event ordering
Events are ordered by default by ascending geocentric event
midtime. Events may be ordered by midtime, object number, or object
name (case-insensitive), by pressing the corresponding
UT
Geo. Midtime, [
Object]
#, or
[
Object]
Name link in the appropriate column header.
The current ordering is indicated by an up arrow (
↑)
next to the ordered column header or name (which will also then not
be a link).
Highlighted event
The currently-selected event is highlighted with a darker
background, and a global map for it is shown to the right (or
below). The terminator is shown at event midtime, with the event
path (if known) plotted where it intersects Earth. The globe is
shown from the point of view of the occulted star (if known); thus
areas closer to the edge of the globe will see the event at a lower
altitude.
Data fields
For each event, geocentric midtime, object name and number,
star id, star magnitude (V band), magnitude drop, and max duration
are listed, if known. On narrow displays (e.g. mobile) some columns
may collapse to "..." to save space.
Navigating
Clicking/touching a table row, or navigating rows with the
up/down arrow or Home/End keys, highlights that event. Further
pages of events (if any) can be navigated with the left/right arrow
links at the top, or the left/right arrow and PgUp/PgDn keys. On
small browsers (e.g. mobile), the table may be scrolled to see all
20 events per page. Clicking an object name link goes to its event
page.
